So. I’m feeling a little bit whiny right now, and I’m going to tell you why. If you don’t feel like reading about someone’s pathetic excuses for complaining- skip this section. Okay, here goes:

• I’m feeling a little emotionally delicate right now because of Travis’ leaving.
• My mouth hurts. When you bring up a concern to your orthodontist and he tells you that the problem will be fixed before you leave the office- you know you’re in trouble.
• I’m tired and sore. I went back to bootcamp this week. I’m so glad to be back, but man oh man, am I sore. And it’s hard to get up so early.
• School fully started. ’nuff said.

So onto my Fashion Friday picks. In honor of my whiny-ness, I chose all wine colored clothes- one of my all-time favorite colors to wear. It’s so beautiful.

In fact, not too long ago we bought a wine colored t-shirt to “share”- haha. Obviously “sharing” is just an excuse to buy another shirt that neither of us really need.My mom just got some really beautiful aqua earrings that go perfectly with anything this color.

I thought I’d give a quick update about what’s been going on around here…

1). Camping was so much fun! We had an awesome time hanging out at this stream one day- we ended up hanging a rope between the two trucks so we could play some redneck volleyball in the water.

2). A few years ago, I reorganized all of our recipes by putting them into plastic sheet protectors and then into three-ring binders. Unfortunately the binders had started to break, so we bought these super cute binders at Target to replace them.

3). A beautiful flower…

4).  Camping food at it’s finest!

5).  I bought ’em! After drooling over them a couple of weeks ago on Fashion Friday, I finally gave in. And they totally exceed my expectations- they are so comfortable and cute. Needless to say, I’m totally in love.

I have a ton of silky scarves and sashes that I wear as headbands- I either tie them in a bow like the headband above, or just knot them in the back. They are a perfect bad hair-day cover-up and are really fun.

Rip Curl Bikini Top

I had a Rip curl bikini top a few summers ago that I totally fell in love with. Yeah, I know. It’s sort of weird to say that about a bathing suit top, but this one was awesome. It had a crossback, so it was super secure- I never had to worry about it shifting about in the water.

This bathing suit top is a totally different design, but it has the crossback that I love so much.

Even though going back to school is a dreaded occasion for me, I do look forward to fall for one reason- cute cooler weather clothes. Around here, cooler weather really isn’t that cold, but I take full advantage of it, and I’m already looking forward to wearing blazers and leggings and boots.

In honor of that, I threw a few jackets into today’s Fashion Friday post. And that was as far as the theme went. I’m just not that into the whole back to school thing.

This shirt looks so soft and silky, and I love the color. The only thing is I’m not sure if I’d like the leather pocket in person.

Polka Dot Blazer

I tried on a blazer at Nordstrom a while back that was pale blue with white polka dots- it was super cute, but I wasn’t in the mood to spend money that day, so I didn’t get it. This blazer reminded me a little of that one- I really like the notching up near the lapels.

Fuzzy Dog Tee

Normally I’m not a huge graphic tee-shirt person, but this one was just too adorable to pass up. I think it would be really cute tucked into a fun skirt.

Sleeveless Sweetheart Dress

This dress caught my eye at Target, but I didn’t try it on. I really like the two different patterns on the fabrics, and the hook and eye closure in the front is cool.

This is the camera bag that I bought so that I wouldn’t have to haul around the original bulky black camera bag. The size is nice, and it looks like a regular purse- all in all, so much cuter!

Long Sleeve Sweater Jacket

I really like tweed jackets, but they always end up being to heavy for our balmy southern California winters. This seemed like a good alternative. The sparkly-ness might be a bit much- I guess I’d have to see it in person to decide.

My Dad and Travis left yesterday for work in Florida, so it’s just the two girls here for a week! We’ve already decided to eat lots of girly stuff that normally wouldn’t be allowed in our house. In honor of this, we thought that we would start a Meatless Monday post- keep an eye out for the first one this Monday.

We also are going to watch plenty of chick flicks and do any other girly things that we can think of 🙂

Spiral Ring

I love rings. I normally have four to five on- two that stay the same, and the other two to three are changed out as I feel the urge.

Besides my basic rings, I also have a collection of cocktail rings that are super fun to wear. They were even more fun to collect- the gold one with an opal was my great-grandma’s, who will be 90 in September, and Danae gave me the silver rose ring because she knew I had my eye out for one just like it.

Mandarin Twist Printed Blouse

I have a feeling that my mom would love this top- she is currently obsessed with orange, and has a blouse very similar to this one. I just figured out that her orange top fits me- yay! I love being able to share clothes and jewelry with my mom- it’s like having a sister with better taste than me 🙂

Taupe Suede Wedges

Yep, another pair of Toms. I love these so much. The heel height seems nice (the heel is only 2 3/4 inches), and the color is really cool. I feel like they would be adorable during the warmer months, but also would be really fun during the winter with tights.
