Yes. I realize it’s actually Sunday, but I thought late was better than never. I was at summer camp from Wednesday to Saturday, so I actually have a decent excuse for my lateness 🙂

Summer camp was absolutely incredible by the way…so many new friends made, old friendships strengthened, fun games- some challenging, some just plain silly (can you say Twinkie eating contest?!? Ohhh yeah), and the best of all: awesome teaching. God’s presence was so strong in that camp!

Anyways…. here are my Fashion Friday picks for last week- I chose to do a splurge edition this time- items that I’ll most likely never get up the nerve to buy, but that’s okay, since drooling is free, right?

So. This is my mom’s addition to this week’s post. She loves herself a good white watch, but has yet to find one that fits all the criteria (not too large of a face, not annoyingly sparkly etc. etc.). She does love the nautical look of this one though.

Yarn Dye Swing Top

I love this one. Not only is it white, it’s also a tank top, so it’s pretty much a perfect shirt.

Eileen Fisher Alpaca & Merino Sweater

Some of you might know that I’m not a huge sweater person, mostly because I get hot so easily. My mom loves to tell about when this weird temperature phenomenon began to show itself: when I was a baby, she would bundle me up in long sleeves, a beanie and then swaddle me like a burrito. I lasted that way for a few minutes and then my face would get super pink and I would start to sweat. Apparently it started young 🙂

I just might be able to wear this sweater though because it looks so perfect. The color is one of my all-time favorites and it looks really comfortable.

Navy Polka Dot Toms

Toms have to be some of my favorite shoes, and I love the polka dot pattern on this pair.

I Work Out Tank Top

When I saw this shirt for the first time I couldn’t control my laughing. This is definitely on my wish list as the perfect work out top, but almost $30 seemed a little excessive. But most likely I’ll give in at some point because it’s just too funny to pass up.

Happy Friday! So this Fashion Friday post includes some of my tried and true wardrobe staples (or something similar) that I love and wear all the time. Of course, I had to throw in some other picks that I just really like, but don’t actually own (yet ;))

Women’s Cateye Sunglasses

I have a practically identical pair of sunglasses, but I’m realizing their mortality. I noticed the beginnings of a crack in the plastic frame the other day and I’ve been treating them even more gently since then, afraid that they might finally break. I found my pair for $10 at a tiny boutique near Yosemite about a year ago, so today I started looking for a replacement pair for when that sad day comes, and I found these! They are almost identical, except for the color (mine are more tan). I was seriously considering buying these just in case they were no longer available when I need a new pair, but I found a pair today at Kohl’s that I love.

I love everything about these- the color, the fact that they remind me of cage heels…without the heel ;), the crisscrossing straps on the top…like I said- everything.

I love circle skirts- I wear mine (similar to the one above) with tank tops and flip-flops in the summer and a button-down, tights and boots in the winter. Definitely a staple in my closet.

I bought this top a couple of months ago and have worn it more times than I can count- it looks good with jeans, shorts and my maxi skirt, and I love the back, even though I don’t wear it completely open like the model does in these pictures. I was immediately drawn to the lighter color, but I ignored my initial instinct and tried on the black- I’m so glad I did because it goes with so many different things.

Charcoal and Grey Maxi Skirt

I know it may seem basic, but my knit maxi skirt is one of my favorite items in my closet- and definitely one of the most worn! Mine has a tiny horizontal stripe and is a really dark red.

Ha! Yes! A maxi skirt has to be one of the most comfortable things you can ever wear, and they go with everything.

ASOS Super Wide Elastic Belt

Okay, so you’re probably thinking the same thing as me right now- how wide is “super wide”? I have absolutely no idea because the website doesn’t include measurements in their product description- gah. But I decided to go ahead and include this seemingly non-descript belt because I have a very similar one that I absolutely adore. No seriously, I think it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

I bought it more than 2 years ago from Forever 21, so it’s no surprise that they no longer carry it. It’s hard to tell for sure, but it looks like it is not nearly as wide as the belt above (it’s only about 2 1/4 inches wide), but besides that, it’s exactly the same. I wear it with everything- dresses, skirts etc.- it’s the perfect width and simple enough that it’s not distracting. Plus, it was only 6 bucks (gotta love Forever 21’s prices).

So to sum it up, the above link and picture aren’t as much a Fashion Friday pick, as a means to an end- it gives me the ability to tell you all about my favorite belt and how perfect it is 🙂

I admit, it’s an awesome rut to be stuck in, but I just realized that over the past month and a half, we’ve only posted two savory dishes. Oops. Happy 5th of July everybody! We had a great day yesterday, which included making peach smoothies using peaches from a generous neighbor’s tree. We have a deal with them: we get peaches and plums, and in exchange we give them veggies from our garden. That setup makes everybody happy!

In addition to the peaches, we threw in some frozen bananas, pineapple, and pineapple Greek yogurt. It was so refreshing, and a perfect summer treat.

We also went to a friend’s house for a BBQ, and then headed out to watch the fireworks.

To top off our super fun holiday weekend, we packed up and went jet-skiing, which is always a highlight around here. Everyone is pretty much exhausted now, and my mom has wisely decided that she might be too old to wake-board.

I own two pairs of these exact jeans, same wash, same size, because I love them that much. They are so comfortable- I can’t even describe how perfect they are. The stretch in the fabric is just right because they don’t get too stretched out after multiple wears. Also, because they offer three different lengths (short, regular, long), I don’t have to cuff them which is nice.
