Fashion Friday- Preppy

This had to be one of the fastest Fashion Friday’s to prepare- for some reason the items were really easy to find. It all feels very preppy, which is one of my favorite styles. When I was browsing Modcloth, I also found a couple random home-related items that I loved. I just threw them in, even though they aren’t at all related to the “preppy” theme 🙂 Hope you enjoy the post!

Romcom Marathon Sweater

So cute!

Turning in Tulle Skirt

I still have a thing for tulle skirts- I like the more slightly more subdued style of this one.

Striped Top

If this isn’t preppy, I don’t know what is.

Thigh-High Socks

36735_1

I have an almost identical pair of thigh-high socks from Urban Outfitters that I bought last fall and absolutely love. They are so fun, and are, in my opinion, way more comfortable than wearing tights.

Embroidered Blouse

This is so pretty and unusual.

Selfie Glasses

Selfie_DressyTortoise_Front

Bonlook has some super fun prescription glasses on their website- and they’re all under $100. I really love this particular style.

Dear and Dainty Dress

This seems so versatile.

Plaid-Patterned Shirt

An unusual take on the simple white button-down.

And here are a couple of extra, random, fun things that I found on Modcloth recently 🙂

Like I said, random and not related to the post, but delicious!

Fashion Friday- This One Doesn’t Have a Theme

It’s been a busy, fun week around here- babysitting, youth group and home group, rock-climbing and other random stuff. Alex got home last night to celebrate his birthday with us, and the guys are all going hunting tomorrow. All in all, a good week.

And to continue the random fun-ness of this week’s activities, I present Fashion Friday, without a theme. From time to time, it seems like there isn’t really a connection between the things I choose to feature, so I decided to not even try to come up with a theme. It’s just easier that way haha. Hope you enjoy the post though 🙂

Geometric Button-Up Blouse

37185

I really like collared shirts, and the thinner fabric of this one is perfect for warmer fall days.

Color-block Top

56414771-05

I really love this top. It comes in cream too, but there’s something about the teal that I just love.

Civil Jeans

34764

I tend to gravitate towards dark wash jeans, but this lighter wash pair is really cute.

Boulder Boots

Oh my goodness- I love everything about these.

Restful Weekend Top

This looks so cozy and perfect to wear with jeans or sweats. It also comes in a pretty charcoal.

Calm Waters Bracelet

36608

This bracelet is so unusual and beautifully simple.

Tweed Swing Jacket

_9301893

I’ve seen a handful of light pink jackets similar to this one recently, including the one in my Friday Favorites post from last week. I really like this particular style though- I feel like the longer length and the tweed make it a bit more timeless, while the moto look makes it fun and trendy. And, of course, the color is beautiful.

Tulip Back Dress

00091790-01

I love the color and print on this dress, and the cut-out in the back is pretty and doesn’t expose too much.

Caramel Bag

I really like the fun details on this other wise simple purse.

Fashion Friday- Mom’s Picks

Happy Friday!  This week we are mixing things up a bit with our Fashion Friday.  Normally Jordan chooses all the items for Fashion Friday but this week I asked Jordan if I could do it.  I found that I wanted to share recently purchased items more than recently viewed items.  One recently purchased item was an adorable blue dress that I found on clearance at Kohl’s.  With percentage off coupons and various other coupons, I got the dress for $6!  Can you believe it?  What a deal.  I couldn’t find a picture of that dress, but I did find all these other adorable items that I would love to own!  Have a great weekend.

Beach Getaway Maxi Dress

36243

I love to wear maxi dresses but most of my dresses seem more appropriate for summer.  However this one seems like it would transition well into the cooler fall weather.

In the Field Kimono

36239

Jordan and I have been to a bunch of stores looking for a cute kimono for me.  So far, no luck.  I worry that between the floral pattern and the big flow-y sleeves it will look all wrong on me.  This one comes in different sizes and with the smaller floral pattern, I think it could be really cute on.

Secret Coffee Shop Knit Cardigan

36822_1

I love sweaters!  This one is adorable and would be so versatile.

Military Jacket

_9541856

Jordan has a really cute military style jacket that I love.  This one is really cute and I think that it would be perfect for our mild climate.

Double Wrap Watch

double wrap watch

I recently had one of Donald’s watches sized down so I could wear it.  I love the bulky look, but sometimes it feels too casual.  This watch looks like it would make a bold statement without being so bulky.

Initial Pendant Necklace

monogram necklace

I’m not one to wear monograms – but isn’t this cute?  It comes in silver too.  I was thinking another option would be to get your kids’ initials.

Sleeveless Linen Blouse

cn8560091

So I have a thing about white tops.  I love them.  I think this one would be great by itself now but then under a jacket or sweater when the weather cools off.

Elle Drop Earrings

elle drop earrings

I love these!

Drapey Cropped Pants

drapey pants

These look amazing.  So soft and comfy.  I love how the leg tapers down so they don’t look like genie pants.

So that’s it for this week.  Thanks for looking at a few items that I’d love to own.  What about you?  Anything here that you would like to add to your wardrobe?

Coffee & Coconut Oil Body Scrub

My Daughter and I- Coffee and Coconut Oil Body Scrub

Ahhhhh… coffee. I love everything about it: the taste, the heat and, of course, the smell. Using coffee grounds in a body scrub may seem a bit strange, but it exfoliates skin well, and the smell is to die for. Also, because the coffee is packed with antioxidants, it’s a great anti-inflammatory, and the caffeine also makes your skin feel softer and firmer.

I’ve made coffee body scrub before (here’s the original post), but I used olive oil in the recipe. We had a jar of coconut oil floating around in our pantry, so this time, I found a recipe that included coconut oil instead. The coconut oil is a lot more moisturizing then the olive oil, so you probably won’t need to put lotion on after you shower.

My Daughter and I- Coffee and Coconut Oil Body Scrub 2

Coffee & Coconut Oil Body Scrub

3/4 cup coffee grounds (Used or fresh. Coarser coffee grounds seem best, but anything works)

1/2 brown sugar

1/4 cup coconut oil (or olive oil)

1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix all ingredients well and store in airtight container.

Here’s the original recipe (I made quite a few modifications.)
