Friday Favorites- Lots and Lots of Food

That seems to be a general trend around here, doesn’t it? Between my mom and I, we subscribe to a lot of different blogs- food, fashion and everything in between. It’s awesome to see what other blogger’s are up to- it’s so inspiring!

You might remember a similar post on our blog- Banana Ice Cream. It’s a total hit during the summer- easy, healthy and delicious! That great thing about this post from A Beautiful Mess is that they include a ton of great ways to mix up the basic recipe.

Skunkboy Blog: 5 DIY’s I’m Dying to Try

I’m not a crafty person- it’s just not one of my strengths. I loved this DIY post from Skunkboy blog though- so many cute ideas! I especially love the homemade fire starters (shown above). Also, the colorful backgammon game is amazing!

The Pioneer Woman: Crunchy French Toast

Oh my goodness. This Crunchy French Toast looks like heaven- french toast battered in sweetened panko and then cooked in butter…yummmmmm.

Proverbs 31 Ministries: Why Did This Happen God?

Lysa Terkeurst’s devotions are awesome- I’d highly recommend checking them out. I especially loved what she had to say about Philippians 4:12-13- a verse that can sometimes be tough to swallow, and is always tough to live out. Worth the read.

Fashion Friday- Themes

As I was looking through my fashion board on Pinterest, I noticed some definite themes, and I thought it would be fun to share a couple of the styles I’ve been loving lately.

Pleated Skirts

I bought a green pleated midi skirt at a resale store for last year’s Halloween costume. It turned out that I love wearing the skirt normally, so that purchase was a total win-win. I’m loving how these gals styled their pleated skirts- they look cute and a bit fancy.

Blue & White

Blue and white is just a timeless combination.

Crochet & Lace

Crochet and lace are always a favorite, but they seem especially springy and fun right now.

Black & White

Another timeless combination. Maybe it’s just me, but wearing just black and white seems to make any outfit elegant.

Polka Dots & Stripes

Polka dots and stripes forever. Seriously, what’s better than a great striped shirt or a cute polka dotted skirt? Nothing, in my opinion 🙂

We made something similar a while back (see here), but it didn’t include chocolate, which I think is a great addition.

Favorite Hair: Delightfully Tacky- Low Tuck Up-Do

This hairstyle idea is totally do-able. Elizabeth (above) just uses a plain black headband, which is totally an option, but when I tried it, I used a sparkly one- it ends up making it look a bit fancier. Despite how it looks completed, the up-do is incredibly simple and easy- and it looks great on thick, curly hair (like mine), and thinner, straight hair (like a friend’s who introduced me to the hairstyle). My new go to hair for when I want to feel fancy 🙂

Friday Favorites- Accomplished!

Whew! Well here we are! I finally managed to post three times this week- yay for consistent blogging! The last couple months have been pretty spotty with the blog- I kept on thinking that things were going to settle down and I would go back to the blog then. And you know what I’ve figured out? Things don’t really settle down- schedules change and routines resume, but no matter what, we’re still busy. Despite that, being back on schedule with the blog feels great. Let’s see if we can keep it up 🙂

Favorite Read- Jesus Creed: Loving God and Loving Others by Scot McKnight

I found this book via a recommendation, and have loved it so far! I actually didn’t have super high hopes for it at first, but it’s blown me away. The author is direct, concise, interesting, and thought-provoking. What more could you ask for?

Favorite Comfy Tee- Stay Cozy

Kinship Goods has a bunch of cute, quirky t-shirts and thermals that look perfect for cozy, lazy days.

Friday Favorites- Happy Week Before Food
